Our Great Healer

Mark 5:25-34 (NIV))
And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years. She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse. When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, because she thought, "If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed." Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering.
At once Jesus realized that power had gone out from him. He turned around in the crowd and asked, "Who touched my clothes?"
"You see the people crowding against you," his disciples answered, "and yet you can ask, 'Who touched me?' "
But Jesus kept looking around to see who had done it. Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet and, trembling with fear, told him the whole truth. He said to her, "Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering."

Wow, what an amazing account of faith and healing! As I have read this passage numerous times in preparation for today's inspiration, the first question that comes to mind is why do we wait so long before we seek Jesus for healing in our lives? Shouldn't He be our first course of action instead of our last hope? The passage tells us that this woman had been bleeding and suffered for several years and had spent all she had under the care of many doctors.

The purpose of this amazing story of miraculous healing is not to focus on the doctors and to announce their limitations and shortcomings to the world. It is, however, and account of faith in Jesus. When we direct our focus on our Great Physician and Great Healer and Master of all Medicine who made us, and who has all of the ultimate healing power in the world, great things will happen.

Dear Friend, do you have a need for healing in your life? Do you have a need for physical healing, spiritual healing, or emotional healing? Our Father in Heaven loves you and desires the best for you. In whom have you placed your trust for healing? God wants to hear from his children today. Take a few moments right now and seek Him as this woman of faith did so many years ago. He alone is ready and willing and able to supply all your needs. And remember to thank Him for His unfailing love in your life.

Blessings to you this day,
Dave Henry
