Act Like a Man!

1 Kings 2:1-4 (NIV)

When the time drew near for David to die, he gave a charge to Solomon his son.
"I am about to go the way of all the earth," he said. "So be strong, act like a man, and observe what the LORD your God requires: Walk in obedience to him, and keep his decrees and commands, his laws and regulations, as written in the Law of Moses. Do this so that you may prosper in all you do and wherever you go and that the LORD may keep his promise to me: 'If your descendants watch how they live, and if they walk faithfully before me with all their heart and soul, you will never fail to have a successor on the throne of Israel.'

While visiting a church over the weekend, the pastor read this passage in the opening minutes of his sermon. I have read these verses several times since Sunday morning, and I have been deeply inspired by this wonderful instruction.

If every man were 'strong and acted like a man' and 'walked in obedience to Him' what a wonderful world it would be! Have you ever thought what it means to act like a man? The passage clarifies that when we are obedient to Him and truly follow His laws and regulations, then we will prosper. I am often reminded that because we have failed as a nation to be obedient to God's laws, we have fallen extremely short of God's ideal plan for us.

Dear Friend, how about you? Are you living your life in obedience and faithfulness to Him? Do you shape your life around God's laws and are humbly abiding by His teachings? There is no better time than right now to test your own life and to be honest with the One who loves you most.

Blessings to You,
Dave Henry
