Romans 8:37-39 But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." George Matheson was engaged to be married and later learned he would soon become totally blind. His fiancée uttered, "I cannot marry a blind man." She left him shortly thereafter and his dreams were shattered. He thought of taking his life, but instead rooted himself in the scriptures and later wrote the wonderful hymn, "O Love That Wilt Not Let Me Go." Mr. Matheson, who was a blind preacher and also a poet wrote the following words: "My God, I have never thanked Thee for my thorns. I have thanked Thee a thousand times for my roses, but not once for my thorns." "I have been looking forward to a world where I shall get compensation for my cross; but I have never thought of my cross as itself a present glory." "Teach me the glory of my cross: teach me the value of my thorn." "Show me that I have climbed to Thee by the path of pain." "Show me that my tears have made my rainbow."
Dear Friend, do you have pain and troubles in your life today? God has promised us that nothing can separate us from His love. The bible is very clear that situations and events in your past, in your present, and in the future can never outmatch God's wonderful love for us. Dave Henry |
